What distinguishes them from other toy breeds is their wonderful easy going temperament. They are great companions for senior citizens as well as children. Make excellent pets because of there temperament and do not require a lot of space so are excellent for people that live in the city or apartments. They get along with other pets with very little aggression. They are very social animals and bond quickly with their human companions.
After World War II there was a lot of interest in the new toy dog breeds and were developed by selection from existing breeds. This is how the toy breeds in Russia began.
